  1. Santa Claus was born in Patara

The church’s garden has been used for hundreds of years as a graveyard. There were also graves and burials inside the church, especially around the altar.

The church was believed to be the burial place of Tancred, Prince of Galilee, as well as one of the remains of the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick Barbarossa who died in the Third Crusade as one of the three final resting places.
